Significance of being insignificant

The majority of us lead quiet,unheralded lives as we pass through this world.There will most likely be no ticker-tape parades for us,no monuments created in our honour.But that does not lessen our possible impact,for there are scores of people for someone just like us to come along;people who will appreciate our compassion,our encouragement,people who will need our unique talents.Someone who will live a happier life merely because we took the time to share what we had to give.

Too often we underestimate the power of a touch,a smile,a kind word,a listening ear,an honest compliment or the smallest act of caring-all of which have the potential to turn a life around.

Dev D- A DARING DEPICTION

Here’s what i would call… crass and crude!

This is what I thought when I saw this movie.Trust me,it surely talks a lot about our Indian movies coming of age…don’t know ,many might as well disagree.Can’t believe here’s a movie which comes and goes without any hoopla created by our political parties and nari sansthans 

Gone are the days when candyfloss movies adorned our silver screens.The film is outrageous and original to say the least.The 21st century Dev das is no loser for sure.No offences,but the original Devdas was a bigtime loser.What would you call an obsessive lover who immerses himself in alcohol and does not have the guts to marry his childhood sweetheart??!!!

The urban Dev D is a today’s man,commits follies,meets the proverbial chandramukhi and goes on with his life.There is nothing like self- suffering.What I liked about this character is that he is no boring,moroseful and does not wallow in self pity.
The real essence of the movie are the 2 girls.The modern Paro and Chandramukhi.The modern Paro is absolutely spirited.Gives a shit to the guy who dumps her and moves on.Chandarmukhi is garish and does all the bold scenes with such élan that it makes one think….is this for real????The language used throughout the span of the movie is lethal and so raw.It does not make you squirm because somewhere you know its true.

Women upon Men

Just the other day, I was at a small party and I notice,not for the first time..that all the strong,interesting people in the room are women.They are the ones with the most confident,provocative opinions on issues ranging from beauty contests to the bomb blasts,while the guys sit around aimlessly talking-turkey about the best beer in town!

That brings me to the most debated topic of the sorts ‘Women upon Men’.I am sure many of my peers would disagree with this.Interestingly,according to me females are a more superior race than males…not because I am a female myself and all that gender bias.

Well lets not get into the vicious cycle… ,who is superior to whom and jazz..

Here’s to my verdict:-

~When a man gets up to speak,people listen,then look.When a women gets up,people look,then if they like what they see,they listen.

~Men are taught to apologize for their weakness,women for their strength.
~ Think of certain words you'd probably never have heard if not for women. Ecru, taupe, mauve. These are not words that come naturally to the male vocabulary. They are inserted there after associating with women.Sure, you can say them and sound cool…..yawnnnnnnn.

This is just the tip of the iceberg.Today the entire world is reeling under the threat of Economic Meltdown.Lets see how our so called very strong Men are dealing with this wrath.
The Forbes magazine quoted:

” Kirk Stephenson, a financier who jumped in front of a train in England after his private equity firm suffered losses; French financier Rene-Thierry Magnon de la Villehuchet, who slit his wrists after losing $1 billion in the Bernard Madoff scheme; and German billionaire Adolf Merckle, who threw himself in front of a train after massive investment losses.

These tragic figures had something in common besides economic hard times……they were all Men!

It also quoted "Women might make gestures that are not as strong, that are more a cry for help or attention."

So in a nutshell,whatever women do,they must do twice as well as men to be thought half as good…..luckily,that is not difficult!!!
